We apply educational practices steeped in brain science and would like to introduce you to some of the perspectives that inform our practice. Our holistic approach helps students experience and appreciate wellness, community and life long learning.
What field is the Neumind approach based on?
Our approach is based on the field of Mind, Brain and Education (MBE) that was pioneered at Harvard Graduate School of Education. This is a field that links the traditional areas of study in biology, psychology, cognitive science and education, to produce an integrated and informed body of knowledge.
Educators at Neumind harness knowledge from Whole Brain Learning, Multiple Intelligences, Leadership, Neuroscience, Cognitive Science and Positive Psychology. Cutting-edge research is used to develop a holistic experience for your child. Neumind is at the forefront of changing how children are taught, how they learn and ultimately participate in the larger global community.
What is Whole Brain Learning?
It is an instructional method grounded in neurolinguistics and an understanding of the different hemispheres of the brain function. The left hemisphere relates to language and serial skills while the right hemisphere relates to spatial and global skills. Whole Brain Learning provides students with superior learning in compliance with the brain’s dominating areas, integrated left and right brain instruction to help them learn holistically.
What are Multiple Intelligences?
Multiple Intelligence is a term coined by Howard Gardner of Harvard University. He proposed that the traditional belief about intelligence was too limited and his research led to his discovery of eight different intelligences. People can be “smart” linguistically, logically, spatially, physically, musically, socially, intra-personally, and naturally. Intelligence is the biological potential to process information in certain way, in order to solve problems or fashion products that are valued in a culture or community.
What is Leadership?
A leader is an individual who significantly affects the thoughts, feelings, and/or behaviors of a significant number of individuals. Mastery and understanding of skill is demonstrated as children develop intellectually.
What is Neuroscience?
Neuroscience involves understanding the brain and how we learn, remember and process information. Educators look at a child’s learning from a different perspective and which alters how they teach.
What is Cognitive Science?
It is the interdisciplinary study of mind and intelligence, addressing areas like attention, language processing, learning and development, memory, perception and action.
What is Positive Psychology?
The application of Positive Psychology assists children in accurately identifying their strengths and using these strengths to enhance their learning and maintain their well-being.
